The Louise Pittman Endowed Scholarship
School of Social Work at the University of Alabama
Louise Pittman was one of the founding Board members of The Child Welfare Group. Louise worked to make the world a better place for all children. She served for more than 50 years as a tireless children's services advocate on local, regional, state and national levels. She brought innovative approaches to adoption services and she worked to strengthen child care laws.
The Louise Pittman Endowed Scholarship was established in 2007 from gifts given by The Child Welfare Policy and Practice Group to promote the education of students in the field of Social Work.
Priority of consideration is given to students pursuing a Master of Social Work degree who have an interest in a career in child welfare, have graduated from a high school in Alabama and demonstrate financial need.
The following individuals have been awarded the scholarship:
Suzanne B. Ray 2008
Latoya Gates 2009 - 2010
LaToya Turner 2011
